Icy Hydration Drink

It is a healthy sports drink.  Even before adding potassium gluconate to the blend, it naturally contains about 150 mg potassium, 60 mg vitamin C, 30 mg calcium, 10 mg phosphorus, 10 mg magnesium and trace amounts of other minerals and vitamins plus natural digestive enzymes. While an Icy contains about 40 calories, a comparable amount of Gatorade contains over 150 calories of highly synthetic sugars, including high fructose corn syrup.

Icy Directions

  • Squeeze the juice of 2 lemons into a blender.  The easiest tool for this is a lemon squeezer which is shown above.
  • Add 5 potassium gluconate tablets (Standard Vitamins 99mg potassium per tablet). These are available now, 100 tablets: $7.50 or 500 tablets: $30.50.
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon stevia extract
  • Use a measuring cup for a total of 3 cups ice and water.  If you like a slushy consistency, use more ice.
  • Blend and drink up!

Adverse effects from excess potassium have not been found in healthy individuals, although potassium chloride supplements should not be used except on a physician’s advice.
